About Me

I’m Spencer. Husband, father, technology enthusiast, and someone in recovery with twelve years of sobriety, choosing that freedom again every day.

I was introduced to pornography at an early age, and it followed me through my teenage and early adult years. Pornography was always my addiction of choice, the place I went whenever life got uncomfortable, lonely, or hard. I got good at hiding it. When I married my wife, I let her believe I had nothing to hide. A few months in, she asked me a direct question about pornography, and I told her the truth. That conversation is where recovery actually started for me, not because I suddenly had it figured out, but because the secret finally had light on it.

The years after that were not a straight line. Sobriety and relapse traded places more times than I want to count. Prayer and good intentions mattered, but they were not a shortcut around the real work: learning to feel what I had been numbing, telling the truth, and letting people help me. I wasted time I cannot get back. I caused pain I wish I hadn’t. I am also still here, still choosing the next honest step, and still convinced this path is worth walking.

I created Rally2Freedom because I remember how alone this felt, and I do not want that for you. What you will find here is peer recovery writing: weekly posts that are personal, practical, and aimed at hope. This is not therapy or clinical advice. If you need professional help or you are in crisis, please reach out to local emergency services or a trusted counselor.

I’m not a psychologist and I’m not a licensed counselor. I don’t have a clinical framework to hand you or a treatment plan with your name on it. What I have is a set of steps I worked myself, the ones that actually got me sober and kept me that way, and I’m still working them. Everything here comes out of that: a guy who found something that works, sharing it with others trying to find the same thing.

We may have been alone in the addiction. We do not have to be alone in getting free. If you are new, start at Start Here. Then come back on Wednesdays. One post at a time is enough.

Let’s rally toward freedom.
